Movie: “Chariots of Fire”

Orchestra Hall enjoys the distinction of being the only movie theater on the Marblehead Peninsula and Ottawa County. It is a historic theater to watch new and classic films.

Lakeside will show “Chariots of Fire” at 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19. The movie is free, but Lakeside Chautauqua values donations to support these types of programs. This movie is sponsored by Religious Life.

This 1981 British historical sports drama tells the story of two track athletes, one a determined Jew and the other a devout Christian, who are driven to win in the 1924 Olympics as they wrestle with issues of pride and conscience. The film is directed by Hugh Hudson, written by Colin Welland and stars Ben Cross, Ian Charleson and Nicholas Farrell. (PG, 2h 4m)
