Music Workshop with Johnny Parker
Professional Christian Jazz musicians and Gospel music artists Johnny Parker and Jacob Bates, join percussionist Jerry Powell and Michael Shirtz for the10:30 a.m. Community Worship Service in Hoover Auditorium Sunday, Sept. 4.
Preceding the worship service, Parker and Shirtz will offer a Music Workshop at 9 a.m. on the stage of Hoover Auditorium. All singers are invited to attend, whether they have been part of Lakeside Chautauqua’s summer music program and/or choral groups in the past.
“Parker and his fellow musicians were well received earlier this summer, and we are thrilled that their schedule permits them to return to Lakeside Chautauqua,” said the Rev. Dr. Charles Yoost, Senior Director of Religious Life & Pastoral Care.
Parker is a visionary in the field of Christian entertainment development, marketing/promotion, organizational design consultant and social work. When consulted about the possibility of returning to Lakeside, Parker said, “I’d love to come back!” Shirtz added, “We are so looking forward to singing with Parker again.”
The Chautauqua Choir and anyone wishing to sing in the previous gospel music service this summer are welcome to join again.
Parker’s appearance is made possible through the generous support of James E. Beardsley and Doris F. Beardsley, who have supported the summer musical offerings for the Sunday Hoover Community Worship all summer long.
