North Coast Winds
North Coast Winds, a professional wind quintet, will entertain the crowd at the Steele Memorial Bandstand at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28.
Formed by five alumni of the Cleveland Institute of Music and known for their innovative programming, North Coast Winds (NCW) will delight listeners in a sonic journey that will highlight the technical prowess of the players and the bright, gorgeous timbre of the five unique instruments in the ensemble.
The wind ensemble includes members Kimberly Zaleski (flute), Ben Chen (clarinet), Stefanie Cohn (oboe), Emily Shelley (horn), and Arleigh Savage (bassoon).
Most recently, NCW produced a program for Musicivic, Inc., a chamber music incubator and livestream platform. Recorded during the pandemic and marketed as a “high-octane trip through time and space, culture and place,” this production featured works by Eugene Bozza, Antonin Dvorak and Valerie Coleman.
After a successful initial run, Musicivic extended the broadcast through their 2021 Winter Festival, and recordings from the production garnered NCW a semifinalist position in the 2021 Petrichor Records International Music Competition.
