Musician and storyteller Sean of the South, and instrumentalist Bobby Horton, come together on the stage of Hoover Auditorium for an engaging and entertaining show at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27.
Sean Dietrich is a columnist, novelist and ‘stand-up storyteller’ known for his commentary on life in the American South.
He has written 15 books and his columns have appeared in newspapers and magazines across the country. He’s the creator of the “Sean of the South” podcast and makes appearances at the Grand Ole Opry.
A seasoned performer, Horton is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and music historian.
With a trumpet-playing father and a banjo-playing grandfather, he was exposed to a variety of music genres — from the sound of big bands, jazz combos and classical music to the old-time sounds of Southern gospel and sacred harp.
He has produced and performed music scores for 16 PBS films by Ken Burns, including “The Civil War” and “Baseball,” two films for the A&E network and 21 films for The National Park Service.
