Join us for a production of Lauren Gunderson’s “Silent Sky” at Orchestra Hall on Wednesday, May 31 at 7:30 p.m. performed by Harlequins Theatre, Ohio’s oldest continuously operating community theatre.
When Henrietta Leavitt begins work at the Harvard Observatory in the early 1900s, she isn’t allowed to touch a telescope or express an original idea. Instead, she joins a group of women “computers” charting the stars for a renowned astronomer who calculates projects in “girl hours” and has no time for the women’s probing theories. Based on historical fact, the play is similar to the movie, “Hidden Figures,” about women’s significant, yet overlooked, role in the fields of math and science.
The event is finished.
