As part of Lakeside’s Living History Series, Ruth Pangrace will portray Susan B. Anthony in Hoover Auditorium Wednesday, June 21 at 1:30 p.m.
Pangrace joined Cleveland-based Women In History in 1998 and portrays 12 notable American women. “Women in History gives me an opportunity to uncover women’s stories that often are buried in our nation’s past. Sharing these stories with audiences of all ages is an exhilarating experience.”
We have all have heard about Revolutionary War and America’s battle to gain its independence. But many of us know far less about another revolution that took place during the next century. There were battles, defeats, and victories, but not one shot was fired. It’s about the 72 year struggle to secure civil and political rights for the women in this country, especially the right to vote. Susan B Anthony was one of the generals from this great revolution. In fact, she was called the Napoleon of the Women’s Suffrage Movement.
Pangrace’s teaching experience ranges from pre-school students to university students to senior citizens. She has been recognized as a Master Teacher and is retired from Lakewood City Schools. Currently, she volunteers at The Hope Center for Refugees, working with newcomers who have a rich history of their own. She lives in Rocky River, Ohio, has three grown children and three granddaughters, hopefully future Women in History.
