Sweetest Day at Lakeside

This Sweetest Day weekend, Lakeside Chautauqua and Art Dock are collaborating to offer a variety of art experiences to learn and create, either solo, as a couple or with friends and family. During your Lakeside visit, enjoy a stroll along the waterfront to see the changing colors, explore Lakeside’s shops and restaurants, play tennis or pickleball (bring your own equipment), and catch the film “Sleepless in Seattle” in Orchestra Hall over the weekend.

Art Classes

Zentangle Charger
Saturday, Oct. 15 | 10-11:30 a.m. | Pavilion Upper Room
Create a one-of-a-kind keepsake with artist David Wolff. Work on a large metallic finished charger plate, dividing space into interesting and unique shapes. Explore contrasting patterns and textures using permanent ink. Enjoy a relaxing “Zen” experience as you make your decorative or functional charger plate. Materials will be provided. Cost is $36/person.

Beach Glass Art
Saturday, Oct. 15 | 1-3 p.m. | Pavilion Upper Room
Debbie Prue will teach you how to paint a beautiful lake scene with acrylic paints and beach glass. You’ll be able to select additional elements from her extensive collection of beach glass for a unique and multi-dimensional work of art. Everyone who loves the lake will enjoy creating their own design from your memory. All supplies will be provided. Cost is $42/person.

Movie

“Sleepless in Seattle”
Friday & Saturday, Oct. 14 & 15 | 7 p.m. | Orchestra Hall
Lakeside will feature the romantic comedy “Sleepless in Seattle” at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Oct. 15 for Sweetest Day weekend. Suggested donation for admission.

After the death of his wife, Sam Baldwin (Tom Hanks) moves to Seattle with his son, Jonah (Ross Mallinger). When Jonah calls in to a talk-radio program to find a new wife for his father, Sam grudgingly gets on the line to discuss his feelings. Annie Reed (Meg Ryan), a reporter in Baltimore, hears Sam speak and falls for him, even though she is engaged. Unsure where it will lead, she writes Sam a letter asking him to meet her at the Empire State Building on Valentine’s Day. (PG 1h 45m)
