Experience an unforgettable night of storytelling, poetry and inspiration with Kwame Alexander, bestselling author and one of the most electrifying voices in literature today. Alexander takes the stage as Keynote Speaker in Hoover Auditorium.

A No. 1 New York Times bestselling author of 44 books, Alexander is celebrated for his rhythm-filled writing, powerful performances and stories that speak to the heart. A recipient of the Newbery Medal, a Coretta Scott King Book Award Honor, Caldecott Medal and 2025 NAACP Image Award, Alexander’s impact spans generations of readers.

His groundbreaking novel The Crossover earned the Newbery Medal and was later adapted into an Emmy Award-winning Disney+ series.

From the award-winning picture book The Undefeated to the stirring memoir-in-verse Why Fathers Cry at Night, his work explores identity, family, resilience and the beauty of being human. He has also collaborated with bestselling author James Patterson on Becoming Muhammad Ali, further expanding his reach across genres and audiences.

Alexander’s newest book, Say Yes, delivers motivational wisdom for graduates, creatives and professionals ready to embrace bold possibilities. It’s a message he brings to life on stage with energy, humor and deep emotion.

Beyond the page, Alexander is an Emmy Award-winning producer, creator of the Emmy-nominated PBS special “Acoustic Rooster’s Barnyard Band,” educator and global literacy advocate whose influence extends far beyond the literary world. He’s currently developing The Crossover musical and mentoring writers across the globe.

His passion for literacy has led to international initiatives, including establishing the Barbara E. Alexander Memorial Library and Health Clinic in Ghana and launching programs that uplift new and diverse voices worldwide.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Kwame Alexander live for an evening that will move, inspire and stay with you long after the final applause.
