American Patchwork Quartet returns to the stage of Hoover Auditorium to headline Lakeside’s Global Music Weekend. Led by multi-Grammy Award-winning guitarist and vocalist Clay Ross, the ensemble offers a fresh and compelling interpretation on the American musical tradition.

Prior to the concert, join us at 6:15 p.m. in Orchestra Hall for a Pre-Concert Lecture designed to provide insight and context that will enrich your evening experience.

Bending timeless American folk songs with jazz, country, West African rhythms and East Asian influences, the quartet creates a masterful confluence of tradition and innovation. Their debut album was nominated for Best Folk Album at the 67th Grammy Awards.

Ross, a southern-born roots musician and founder of the acclaimed Gullah group Ranky Tanky, is joined by fellow Grammy-winning artists Falguni Shah, an 11th-generation Hindustani classical vocalist; Moto Fukushima, an internationally acclaimed Issei jazz bassist; and Rudy Royston, a celebrated jazz drummer shaped by the traditions of the African American church.

Together, the quartet reflects the richness and diversity of the American story, weaving musical traditions from varied backgrounds into one vibrant and unified sound. Mirroring America’s cultural mosaic, their performance is both intricate and resilient.

Don’t miss this extraordinary evening of global artistry at Lakeside.
