There’s plenty to do in Lakeside Chautauqua on Mother’s Day weekend! From a gardening workshop and movie to outdoor fun, the whole family can celebrate Mom all weekend long. During your visit, enjoy a stroll around Lakeside to admire the blooming flowers and explore Lakeside’s shops and restaurants.

All Day | Lakefront Path near Perry Park
In early May, an ordinary-looking patch of gravel on Ohio’s Most Beautiful Mile bursts into bloom. The bright Lakeside daisy (Hymenoxys herbacea) is one of Ohio’s most spectacular wildflowers. This long-lived perennial grows where few others can, on nearly barren limestone rock in full sunlight. Lakeside is fortunate to have its own patch of Lakeside daises. Read more.

The Storybook Trail welcomes children and families to read, learn, and enjoy the outdoors together. Michael Rosen’s We’re Going on a Bear Hunt is the featured book for May. To bring the book to life, 20 reading stations are spread across Cherry Park, each containing a page from the book. The path starts near the tire swing and weaves clockwise for a whimsical adventure.
Birding Week Lecture: Roger Tory Peterson – Legacy & Inspiration with Arthur Pearson

Good Morning Wellness
7:30 a.m.-12 p.m. | Wesley Lodge
Experience meditation, yoga and chakra balancing through tones and light scents. The morning begins at 7:30 a.m. with meditation and ends with community connection, tea and snacks. In between, participate in any of the three classes: 8-9:45 a.m. All-Levels Sivananda Yoga (includes Relaxation Class), 9:15-9:45 a.m. Relaxation: Chakra balancing through tones and light essential oils, and 10-11 a.m. Chair Yoga.
Pre-registration is not required, however, there is a cost to participate: $25 includes all three classes (8-11 a.m.), $15 includes All-Levels Sivananda Yoga (8 a.m.) or Chair Yoga (10 a.m.) combined with Relaxation (9:15 a.m.), or participate in Chair Yoga only for $10.
Check-in and payment can be made at the Wesley Lodge check-in desk. Cash or check only, please. Doors open at 7 a.m. Please arrive on time. Yoga mats and props are available. Bring a water bottle and dress in comfy layers.
Pickleball & Tennis
8 a.m.-Dusk | Hubbard Pickleball Center & Williams Tennis Campus | Free
Pickleball and Tennis are open for play from 8 a.m. until dusk, weather permitting. There are no staff onsite. Please bring your own equipment, as limited equipment is available, and drag the tennis courts with the drag broom after.
Design Your Own Container Garden Workshop
10-11 a.m. | Train Station
Let your imagination loose with tips on how to design and plant a stunning container garden for your home or patio. Kyle Bueter, Lakeside’s Director of Horticulture, leads this workshop, which discusses container selection, soils and plant material. All are welcome. Pre-registration is not required.
Chair Yoga
10-11 a.m. | Wesley Lodge | $10 drop-in fee (cash only) or included in $45 Wellness Class Pass
This gentle form of yoga uses exercises seated in a chair or standing using the chair to aid with support and balance. Participants will learn a variety of yoga poses, breathwork and relaxation techniques.
To participate, purchase a Wellness Class Pass for $45/person for five classes at the Lakeside Chautauqua Administration Office, located at 236 Walnut Ave., or pay a $10/class drop-in fee (cash only) to the instructor at the start of class.
Miniature Golf & Shuffleboard
12-4 p.m. | Bettinger Park | $4/mini golf game (ages 5 & under free); free shuffleboard
Enjoy a game of miniature golf ($4/game; ages 5 & under free) at our lakefront course or play a free game of shuffleboard, weather permitting.
Movie: “Barbie”
7:30 p.m. | Orchestra Hall | Suggested donation for admission
“Barbie” is a 2023 fantasy comedy film directed by Greta Gerwig. Based on the eponymous fashion dolls by Mattel, it’s the first live-action Barbie film after numerous animated versions.
“Barbie” stars Margot Robbie as the title character and Ryan Gosling as Ken and follows them on a journey of self-discovery through both Barbieland and the real world after an existential crisis. The supporting cast features America Ferrera, Kate MicKinnon, Issa Rae, Will Ferrell and more. Donations are appreciated for admission. (PG-13, 1h 54m)
