Closing Celebration
Over Labor Day weekend, the Lakeside community will gather for the Closing Celebration of the 149th Chautauqua summer season. The ceremony will take place at the Steele Memorial Bandstand at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4. The fun will begin as Chip Richter and John Wilkie delight the crowd with favorite songs from their repertoire.
The youth of Lakeside will proudly present the community with three new “Buddy Benches” made from recycled bottle caps collected over the summer from Lakesiders. This project is just one example of the transformation that happens when people of goodwill join together in friendship and creativity!
To conclude the evening, all participants will be invited to light a candle of hope to conclude the evening as the sun sets over Lake Erie.
Although the summer is coming to a close, Lakeside remains a year-round destination for families and groups. Visit the calendar for upcoming fall and winter events, including the Girl Named Tom concert on Sept. 10 and the Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival on Saturday, Oct. 8.
