Lakeside is excited to welcome back Rev. Andrew Forrest, Senior Pastor at Asbury Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as Preacher of the Week June 23-27. This week’s preacher is supported by Barbara Martin and Jim & Betty Jane Young.

Forrest will lead the 10:30 a.m. Chautauqua Community Worship Service on Sunday, June 23 in Hoover Auditorium. His sermon is titled “The Process ‘Is’ the Point” and the scripture lesson is Exodus 13:17-18, 21-22. His theme for the week during Faith for Living Monday-Thursday at 9 a.m. in Orchestra Hall is “Exodus: How the Lord Makes a People.” His homily during Vespers by the Lake at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Steele Memorial Bandstand is “Why Does the Lord Harden Pharaoh’s Heart?”

Michael Shirtz and guest artists will provide musical leadership during Sunday’s service, while the liturgy will be led by Rev. Dr. Charles Yoost, Senior Director of Religious Life & Pastoral Care.

Following the opening prayer, children (ages 5-11) will proceed to Bradley Temple for Children’s Church with Chip Richter. There will be a message by Richter, songs, crafts, lemonade and cookies to share. Preschoolers are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

Forrest has been the Senior Pastor of Asbury Church since August 2022. Prior to moving to Oklahoma, he served as a pastor in Texas.

In 2010, Forrest was part of the church-planting team from Highland Park United Methodist Church that started a new congregation in Dallas called Munger Place Church, where he served as the pastor for the following 12 years.

A third-generation Methodist minister, he was raised in West Africa and Virginia, and has an undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York and a graduate degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
