Lakeside is pleased to welcome Rev. Dr. Dennis Miller, Senior Pastor at Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church in Tipp City, Ohio, as Preacher of the Week June 9-13. This week’s preacher is supported by the Rev. Dr. Bud Cox Endowment.

Miller will lead the 10:30 a.m. Chautauqua Community Worship Service on Sunday, June 9 in Hoover Auditorium. His sermon is titled “Know Who You Are” and the scripture lesson is 2 Samuel 19:15-23. His theme for the week is “United In A Divided World.”

Michael Shirtz and Chautauqua Choir will perform with nationally renowned gospel producer, director and bassist Johnny Parker and his wife, director and vocalist Levata Parker, as well as vocalists Ian Morgan and Khamilah Morgan. The liturgy will be led by Rev. Dr. Scott Wilson, Lakefront Worship Coordinator. Worship music for the 2024 summer season is supported by James E. Beardsley and Doris F. Beardsley.

Following the opening prayer, children (ages 5-11) will proceed to Bradley Temple for Children’s Church with Chip Richter. There will be a message by Richter, songs, crafts, lemonade and cookies to share. Preschoolers are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

Miller is the chief dreamer and senior pastor of Ginghamsburg Church, a multi-campus ministry in Tipp City and Dayton, Ohio. The congregation is one of the nation’s largest UMCs and has a 30-year history of worldwide mission and impact.

Prior to coming to Ginghamsburg, Miller held the role of Foothills District Superintendent, West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church where he supervised 170 local congregations in southeastern Ohio.

He’s an ordained Elder within the UMC and holds a bachelor’s degree in Bible/religion and history from Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, a Master of Divinity Degree from Asbury Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Trotwood, Ohio.

Besides his love of local church ministry, Miller is an avid long-distance motorcyclist. He has led seven motorcycle mission trips to Vietnam, providing over 100 motorcycles to Vietnamese United Methodist pastors.

Miller’s wife, Rachel, is an ordained Deacon in the UMC and currently serves on the Lakeside Association Board of Directors.

Miller is excited to return for a second time as Preacher of the Week, having served this role in August 2020.
