Learn more about ‘Microplastics’ with Matt Simon in this Lake Erie Science Series program at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15 in Orchestra Hall. Simon will lead this session virtually through live video.
It’s falling from the sky and in the air we breathe. It’s in our food, our clothes and our homes. It’s microplastic and it’s everywhere, including our own bodies. Scientists are just beginning to discover how these tiny particles threaten health, but the studies are alarming.
In his book, A Poison Like No Other, Simon reveals a whole new dimension to the plastic crisis, one, even more, disturbing than plastic bottles washing up on shores and grocery bags dumped in landfills.
Matt Simon has been a science journalist at Wired magazine for over a decade. He covers a range of beats, including biology, robotics, climate change and, of course, microplastic pollution. He is the author of three books, most recently A Poison Like No Other: How Microplastics Corrupted Our Planet and Our Bodies.
