LESS: “Becoming More Sustainable In Lakeside, Ohio” with Bill Smith

In 2019, several improvements were made to Bill Smith’s Lakeside home to make it more sustainable. These included insulation improvements in both the attic and house sidewalls. The major improvement was the addition of Solar PV cells on the house roof.

This presentation will discuss these additions and the performance of the solar PV with comparison to the pre-solar power consumption. For the first two years, around 70% of Smith’s electricity has been provided by the sun.

Smith holds a bachelor’s degree of naval architecture and marine engineering from Webb Institute and a master’s in mechanical engineering from The University of Akron.
