LHS: Visit to an 1890 Schoolhouse (Grades 2-8)
Children in grades 2 to 8 are invited to attend a re-created one-room schoolhouse to discover what a typical school day was like in 1890, including the appearance of the room, lessons, lunch fare, recess activities and discipline for misbehavior. Gretchen Curtis is the teacher and students put on a simple provided costume before taking seats with boys and girls separated by an aisle. If adults wish to stay, they may sit at back of the room. Tour is limited to 12 kids and pre-registration required at Heritage Hall Museum with $3 per participating child. Presented by the Lakeside Heritage Society.
