Movie: “Girl with a Pearl Earring”

Orchestra Hall enjoys the distinction of being the only movie theater on the Marblehead Peninsula and Ottawa County. It is a historic theater to watch new and classic films.

Lakeside will feature the movie “Girl with a Pearl Earring” at 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 28. The movie is free, but Lakeside Chautauqua values donations to support these types of programs.

“Girl with a Pearl Earring” is a 2003 biography drama romance film about a young peasant maid working in the house of painter Johannes Vermeer who becomes his talented assistant and the model for one of his most famous works. Adapted from a work of fiction by author Tracy Chevalier, the film tells a story about the events surrounding the creation of the painting “Girl with a Pearl Earring” by 17th-century Dutch master Johannes Vermeer.
