Religious Life Seminar: Prayer – Pathways to Presence
On August 1-4, the Rev. Dr. Tom Frost, with the help of Ginny Pippin and Sharon Seyfarth Garner, will lead us in exploring practices to help cultivate our awareness of the presence of God in our lives.
If by “prayer” we refer to our total relationship with God, our prayer “practices” refer to the individual actions by which we cultivate our awareness of God’s presence in our lives.
Specific practices we plan to explore include Centering Prayer; the “Jesus Prayer;” Body Movement Prayer (including the prayer labyrinth), and Creative Prayer (expressing our prayer through the work of our hands, such as “contemplative coloring”).
Each workshop session will include a short presentation, a 20-minute prayer exercise, and a discussion period during which participants can share their experiences.
Please join us at the Train Station from 3-4:30 p.m. as we continue the journey together.
