The buoyancy of water decreases stress on weight-bearing joints, making it easier and less painful to perform exercise. Because the effects of gravity are lessened, participants can move their joints through a wider range of motion and achieve greater flexibility in the water. The water also provides an excellent source of resistance, allowing for muscle strengthening without the need of weights. This is not a swim class; participants do not need to know how to swim to participate, nor do they submerge their heads underwater. Wear a swimsuit and sun visor. Water shoes are recommended but not required. Please complete a Liability Form at the pool front desk before participating in class.
