Watersports Show in Lakeside

New this summer, Lakeside Chautauqua is partnering with Buckeye Sports Center to host a Watersports Show in Lakeside, Aug. 5-6.

Adventure awaits with on-the-water demonstrations (weather permitting) and exhibits of the top brands of wake boats, fishing boats, pontoons and kayaks, as well as a booth to shop for watersports accessories. There will be a full display of wakeboards, water skis, life jackets, boat toys, tow ropes, Helly Hansen clothing and more.

This weekend-long show will take place in Lakeside, Ohio, from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 and 12-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6 along the waterfront, dock and Hotel Lakeside lawn.

Buckeye Sports Center is one of Northeast Ohio’s largest boat dealers and sports retailers. Family-owned since 1960 in Peninsula, Ohio, the business has expanded with a new location in Huron.

Located in Huron, only 30 minutes from Lakeside off Route 2 at 309 Lake Erie Pkway, the premiere facility has a 20,000-square-foot service area and showroom, two 12,000-square-foot heated boat storage buildings and an on-site service test pond.

Buckeye Sports Center has been recognized by Boating Industry Magazine as one of the Top 10 Boat Dealers in North America for the past three years.

On the day of the Watersports Show in Lakeside, boating and watersports enthusiasts can expect to see Axis, Malibu and Nautique wake boats; Bentley and Harris pontoons; Chris-Craft, Cobia and Stingray bowriders; Cobia, Lund, Thunder Jet and Stingray fishing boats; and Hobie kayaks and more. Admission & Parking

Lakeside Chautauqua is a nonprofit organization that requires guests to purchase a Chautauqua Pass and Auto Pass to enter the grounds during the summer. Purchasing a Chautauqua Pass includes admittance to Lakeside’s grounds as well as access to Hoover Auditorium entertainment with Paul Reiser, the pool, wellness center, the Watersports Show and a variety of Chautauqua experiences. Plus, a Chautauqua Pass is valid from the date of use until 7 p.m. the following day, which means passholders experience almost two days of summertime fun for the price of one.

There are a variety of Chautauqua Passes and Auto Passes to choose from depending on the length of your visit. Skip the line and buy passes online at lakesideohio.com/admission.

Daily Chautauqua Passes start at $37 for adults, $17 for ages 13-21 and $5 for ages 5-12. Guests under the age of 4 and over the age of 90 enjoy free admission. An $8 Partial Day Pass (4 hours) is available but does not include access to Hoover Auditorium entertainment or the pool. Parking is an additional fee. Please note that the Partial Day Pass is only available to purchase at the gates upon entry.

Daily Auto Passes are $3/day to park at the nearby Danbury School Parking Lot (no shuttle service), $8/day to park at the South Gate Parking Lot (free shuttle service available from the South Gate) or $15/day to park inside the gates of Lakeside (free shuttle service available). Buy passes online.

Paul Reiser Performs on Saturday, Aug. 5 

Multi-talented comedian, actor, television writer, author and musician Paul Reiser takes the stage of Hoover Auditorium for a night of laughs Saturday, Aug. 5 at 7:30 p.m. 

Throughout his prolific career, Reiser has a long list of successful television shows, both in front and behind the camera. The multi-faceted actor first starred with Helen Hunt in the Emmy, Peabody and Golden Globe-winning “Mad About You” in 1992. More information about Paul Reiser.

Decades Party on Sunday, Aug. 6

Celebrate the 1970s and 1980s at the Decades Party in Pavilion Circle from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6.

Step back in time to a time of big hair, shoulder pads, Watergate, the Vietnam War, MTV, Michael Jackson and the Ghostbusters. Disco music will be played by DJ Sean Gill. Attendees are invited to dress up and come for music and dancing. More information about the Decades Party.
