Julie Koenig Trio
The Julie Koenig Trio will perform at the Steele Memorial Bandstand on Sunday, Aug. 13 at 6 p.m. The trio features Julie Koenig, who spent many summers in Lakeside as a youth, on vocals and piano, Domi Edson on bass, and Mckenna Reeve on drums.
Koenig is an Ohio-native, now based in Northern Colorado. She performed for several years in the Columbus area with jazz duo Duplicity, as a solo artist, and as a member of the Columbus Symphony Chorus.
Since moving to Colorado in 2017, Koenig has performed at several Northern Colorado venues as both a self-accompanied soloist and as part of a duo. She also works as a lead vocalist and pianist at New Thought Northern Colorado Center for Spiritual Living.
Koenig’s sound is most influenced by the traditions of jazz and blues. Key inspirations include Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Anita O’Day, Carole King and Joni Mitchell.
A pianist since the age of 7, Koenig performs as a soloist in both jazz and pop/rock styles. She is a lifelong learner and constantly seeking a deeper, more meaningful understanding of her art.
